Gaelic football
Emerald Isle game
Gaelic football is an Irish team sport played with a round ball on a large grass pitch.
Players advance the ball by carrying, kicking, or hand-passing it, scoring by putting it into a goal (three points) or over a crossbar (one point).
The sport combines elements of soccer and rugby but predates both in organized form.
Along with hurling, it is one of Ireland's two national games, governed by the Gaelic Athletic Association.
