French people

Citizens of Paris

French people are the citizens or natives of France, or people of French ancestry.

The term covers both nationality and ethnicity—someone born in Paris and someone of French descent in Quebec might both be called French.

As a noun phrase, it's the standard way to refer to the population collectively: French people tend to eat dinner later than Americans.

The adjective French alone can modify people: French tourists, French immigrants.
