Transylvania

Dracula's legendary homeland

Transylvania is a historical region in central Romania, bounded by the Carpathian Mountains.

The name means "beyond the forest" in Latin.

In popular culture, Transylvania is synonymous with vampires and gothic horror, largely due to Bram Stoker's *Dracula*, which placed the vampire count's castle there: The old mansion looked like something out of Transylvania.
