Gaulish
Pre-Roman tribal tongue
Gaulish is the extinct Celtic language spoken in ancient Gaul—roughly modern France, Belgium, and neighboring regions—before Roman conquest brought Latin dominance.
The term also serves as an adjective for anything relating to Gaul or its people: Gaulish tribal customs, Gaulish inscriptions.
Few written records survive, mostly brief inscriptions and names preserved in Latin texts.
