Charcot-Marie-Tooth
Inherited nerve disorder
Charcot-Marie-Tooth is a group of inherited neurological disorders affecting the peripheral nerves, causing progressive muscle weakness and atrophy, typically beginning in the feet and legs.
Named for the three physicians who described it in 1886, it's one of the most common hereditary nerve disorders: Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease runs in her family.
Often abbreviated CMT.
