progeria
Childhood aging syndrome
Progeria is a rare genetic disorder that causes rapid aging in children.
Affected children develop wrinkled skin, baldness, and cardiovascular problems typically seen in the elderly, usually dying in their teens from heart disease or stroke.
The condition results from a mutation that damages cell structure.
Children with progeria age about ten times faster than normal.
