Castle

Name, not fortress

A castle is a large fortified building or complex, typically medieval, designed for defense and as a residence for nobility: The castle overlooked the valley.

By extension, castle describes any grand, imposing home.

In chess, the castle is the rook piece.

To castle is to make a special move protecting the king by shifting it toward a rook.
