kingside
Where king starts
The kingside is the half of a chess board where the kings begin the game—the e, f, g, and h files.
Players speak of kingside attacks, kingside castling, and kingside pawn storms.
The term appears almost exclusively in chess contexts: She launched a fierce kingside assault.
Contrast with queenside.
