lean-to

Simple sloped shelter

A lean-to is a simple shelter with a single-pitched roof that slopes down from a wall or other support.

The roof "leans to" the main structure.

Lean-tos range from crude temporary shelters made of branches propped against a tree to permanent additions built against the side of a house: We added a lean-to for storing firewood.
