Bosniak

South Slavic Muslim

Bosniak refers to a South Slavic ethnic group native to the Balkans, particularly Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bosniaks are traditionally Muslim, which historically distinguished them from Catholic Croats and Orthodox Serbs in the region.

The term gained official recognition in the 1990s as the preferred ethnic designation, replacing the older term "Bosnian Muslim." The city has a significant Bosniak population.

As an adjective, Bosniak describes things relating to this ethnic group: Bosniak cultural traditions, Bosniak communities in diaspora.
