American Psycho

Yuppie serial killer

American Psycho is a 1991 novel by Bret Easton Ellis about a wealthy Manhattan investment banker who may or may not be a serial killer.

The title became shorthand for a certain type of superficial, status-obsessed yuppie masculinity—polished surface masking something hollow or monstrous underneath.

The 2000 film adaptation starring Christian Bale spawned countless memes, particularly the business card scene and Bale's unhinged performance: He's got that American Psycho energy.
