psychical

Of the mind

Psychical means relating to the mind or soul rather than the body, or pertaining to phenomena that seem to transcend normal physical laws—telepathy, clairvoyance, communication with the dead.

The Society for Psychical Research investigated claims of haunted houses.

The word is largely interchangeable with psychic but sounds more formal and academic, favored in scholarly contexts over popular ones.
