America's Cup

Prestigious yacht race

The America's Cup is the world's oldest international sporting trophy, awarded in yacht racing.

Named for the schooner *America*, which won the original 1851 race around the Isle of Wight, the competition pits a defending yacht club against challengers in a series of match races.

The trophy has been held by only four nations: the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Switzerland.
