women's lib

Female emancipation movement

Women's lib is an informal, somewhat dated term for the women's liberation movement of the 1960s and 1970s, which advocated for equal rights and opportunities for women.

The shortened form can sound dismissive or trivializing, depending on who uses it: She was involved in women's lib back in the seventies.

Now largely replaced by feminism in general usage.
