bell-bottoms

Groovy wide pants

Bell-bottoms are pants that fit snugly through the thigh and flare out dramatically from the knee to the hem.

The style emerged in naval uniforms—the wide legs could be rolled up for deck work—and became iconic in 1970s fashion: She wore bell-bottoms and platform shoes to the disco.

The term is almost always plural.
