Men-first prejudice belief
Male chauvinism is the belief that men are inherently superior to women, or behavior reflecting that belief.
The term emerged in the 1960s feminist movement to describe attitudes that dismiss women's capabilities or confine them to subordinate roles: His male chauvinism showed when he assumed the female doctor was a nurse.
A man who exhibits such attitudes is a male chauvinist or, informally, a male chauvinist pig.
