volcanic cone

Lava-built hill

A volcanic cone is the hill or mountain formed around a volcanic vent by accumulated erupted material—lava, ash, and rock fragments.

The classic cone shape results from material falling back and piling up around the opening: The volcanic cone rose steeply from the surrounding plain.

Cones vary from small cinder cones to massive stratovolcanoes like Mount Fuji.
