vibrations
Back-and-forth movements
Vibrations are rapid back-and-forth movements—the oscillations of a guitar string, the trembling of an engine, the quaking of the ground.
In casual use, vibrations (or vibes) refers to the emotional atmosphere someone or something gives off: I'm getting weird vibrations from this place.
To pick up on vibrations is to sense unspoken feelings or moods.
Good vibrations suggest positive energy; bad vibrations warn of trouble.
