pulsation

Steady rhythmic surge

Pulsation is a rhythmic beat or throb—the expansion and contraction of something at regular intervals.

The word applies to heartbeats, arterial blood flow, and any similar throbbing sensation: I felt a pulsation in my temple.

It extends to rhythmic variations in light, sound, or energy: the pulsation of a quasar, electronic music built on deep pulsations.
