venturi
Flow-accelerating throat
A venturi is a constricted section in a tube or pipe that causes fluid flowing through it to speed up and drop in pressure.
This principle—faster flow, lower pressure—underlies carburetors, aspirators, and various measuring devices.
Named for Italian physicist Giovanni Venturi.
The venturi draws fuel into the airstream.
