suction pump
Air-displacement fluid mover
A suction pump is a device that draws fluid by creating a partial vacuum, causing atmospheric pressure to push liquid up into the pump chamber.
Unlike force pumps that push liquid out, suction pumps rely on reduced pressure to pull liquid in: The old well used a suction pump operated by a hand lever.
Suction pumps can only lift water about 34 feet—the limit atmospheric pressure can support.
