ureter

Renal bladder connector

A ureter is one of the two tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder.

Each kidney drains through its own ureter.

Kidney stones cause excruciating pain when they pass through the ureter.

The word is pronounced with stress on the second syllable: yoo-REE-ter.
