renal artery

Kidney blood supply

The renal arteries are the two large blood vessels that supply the kidneys with blood, branching directly from the abdominal aorta.

Each kidney receives one renal artery, which delivers about a quarter of the heart's output for filtration.

The surgeon clamped the renal artery before removing the tumor.
