triumvirs
Three Roman rulers
Triumvirs are members of a triumvirate—a group of three people who share power or authority.
The term comes from ancient Rome, where triumvirs held joint governmental power: The triumvirs divided the republic among themselves.
The word appears almost exclusively in historical contexts, particularly discussions of Roman politics.
