Second Triumvirate
Post-assassination power trio
The Second Triumvirate was a formal political alliance in ancient Rome (43–33 BCE) between Octavian, Mark Antony, and Lepidus, formed after Julius Caesar's assassination.
Unlike the informal First Triumvirate, this was a legally recognized governing body with dictatorial powers.
The alliance eventually collapsed into civil war, ending with Octavian's victory and his transformation into Augustus, the first Roman emperor.
