theater kid
Stage-struck youngster
A theater kid is someone deeply involved in school or community theater, often with an exuberant, dramatic personality that extends offstage.
The term typically describes high schoolers who live for musicals, burst into song, and embrace theatrical mannerisms: Every theater kid knows all the words to Hamilton.
Used affectionately within the community but sometimes dismissively by outsiders to suggest someone is attention-seeking or over-the-top.
The identity often persists into adulthood: She's still such a theater kid at heart.
