Hairspray

Sixties dance musical

Hairspray is an aerosol product sprayed onto hair to hold a style in place.

It creates a stiff, lacquered effect that keeps hair from moving: She used so much hairspray her hair didn't budge in the wind.

The term also applies to pump-spray versions.

Hairspray was ubiquitous in the bouffant era of the 1960s and remains a styling staple.
