A band geek is a student deeply devoted to their school's marching band or concert band, often to the exclusion of other social activities.
The term carries affectionate self-deprecation when used by band members themselves, but can be dismissive from outsiders: I was a total band geek in high school.
Band geeks are stereotyped as enthusiastic, socially awkward, and obsessed with practice schedules and competitions.
