Dear Evan Hansen
Dear Evan Hansen is a 2016 Broadway musical about a socially anxious teenager whose lie about being friends with a classmate who died by suicide spirals into a viral phenomenon.
The title refers to letters the protagonist writes to himself as a therapy exercise.
The show won multiple Tony Awards and became a cultural touchstone for discussions of adolescent mental health, though some critics found its premise morally troubling.
