emoting
Hamming it up
Emoting is acting out emotions in an exaggerated or theatrical way, often with the suggestion of insincerity or overperformance: She spent the whole scene emoting rather than acting.
The word carries a faintly dismissive tone—genuine feeling doesn't need to be performed.
In online spaces, emoting refers to using emotes or emoticons to express reactions.
