text files
Unformatted digital documents
Text files are computer files containing plain, unformatted characters—letters, numbers, symbols, and whitespace.
Unlike binary files or documents with embedded formatting, text files store only readable characters and can be opened by any basic text editor.
Common examples include .txt files, source code, and configuration files.
