swipe card
Magnetic entry pass
A swipe card is a plastic card with a magnetic stripe that grants access when slid through a reader—typically for entering buildings, unlocking doors, or clocking in at work: I forgot my swipe card and had to wait for someone to let me in.
The term distinguishes these from chip cards or tap cards that use different technology.
