supercity
Massive metropolitan area
A supercity is an extremely large urban area, typically formed when multiple cities grow together into a continuous metropolitan region.
The term emphasizes scale beyond ordinary large cities—populations in the tens of millions, sprawling infrastructure, outsized economic and political influence: Tokyo is the world's preeminent supercity.
Sometimes used loosely for any impressively large or futuristic city.
