megaregion
Vast metropolitan zone
A megaregion is an extended urban area formed when multiple metropolitan areas grow together into a continuous or nearly continuous zone of development.
These massive clusters share economic ties, transportation networks, and labor markets across traditional city boundaries.
Examples include the Northeast Corridor from Boston to Washington and the Great Lakes megaregion around Chicago and Detroit.
The megaregion is home to forty million people.
