hackathon
Rapid development event
A hackathon is an event where programmers, designers, and others collaborate intensively over a short period—typically 24 to 48 hours—to build software projects or solve technical problems.
The name combines "hack" (in its creative coding sense) with "marathon." Originally common in tech companies and universities, hackathons have spread to other fields: The city hosted a hackathon to develop civic apps.
