stone fruit
Peach or plum
Stone fruit is fruit with soft flesh surrounding a single hard pit or "stone" that contains the seed.
Peaches, plums, cherries, apricots, and nectarines are the common examples.
The term distinguishes these from fruits with multiple small seeds (berries) or a core (apples, pears): Stone fruits are in season from late spring through summer.
