freestone
Pit releases easily
Freestone describes fruit whose flesh separates easily from the pit, the opposite of clingstone: freestone peaches are easier to slice.
The term also refers to the pit itself or to any fine-grained stone (like sandstone or limestone) that can be cut freely in any direction without splitting along natural layers.
