cobbler
Fruit dessert alternative
A cobbler is a person who repairs shoes, or formerly, one who makes them.
The word also names a type of deep-dish fruit dessert with a thick biscuit or cake topping: peach cobbler, blackberry cobbler.
In British English, a load of cobblers means nonsense—from rhyming slang (cobbler's awls = balls).
