drupe
Flesh surrounding stone
A drupe is a fleshy fruit with a single seed enclosed in a hard pit or stone.
Peaches, cherries, plums, and olives are drupes—the flesh you eat surrounds a woody layer protecting the seed inside.
Almonds and coconuts are also drupes, though we eat the seed rather than the fruit wall.
