spinosaurs

Fish-eating theropod group

Spinosaurs are a group of large carnivorous dinosaurs characterized by elongated, crocodile-like skulls and distinctive sail-like structures formed by tall neural spines along their backs.

The most famous member, Spinosaurus, may have been the largest land predator ever, possibly exceeding Tyrannosaurus rex in length.

Evidence suggests spinosaurs were semiaquatic, hunting fish and other prey in river systems during the Cretaceous period.
