ankylosaurs

Club-tailed herbivores

Ankylosaurs were armored dinosaurs that lived during the Cretaceous period, characterized by bony plates covering their backs and, in many species, a heavy club at the end of the tail.

The name means "fused lizard," referring to the fused bones in their skulls.

These herbivores were built like living tanks: The ankylosaur's tail club could shatter a predator's leg.
