Giganotosaurus

Giant southern lizard

Giganotosaurus is a genus of large carnivorous dinosaur that lived in what is now Argentina during the Late Cretaceous period, roughly 99 million years ago.

One of the largest known land predators, it rivaled Tyrannosaurus rex in size, with estimates suggesting lengths of 40 feet or more.

The name means "giant southern lizard."
