Shallow water sliding

Skimboarding is a water sport where riders run along the beach, drop a thin board onto shallow water or wet sand, and glide across the surface—often toward incoming waves.

Unlike surfing, it starts on shore rather than in the water.

The board (a skimboard) is smaller and lacks fins: We spent the afternoon skimboarding at low tide.
