haroset

Passover fruit mixture

Haroset is a sweet paste served at the Passover seder, typically made from chopped fruits, nuts, wine, and spices.

It symbolizes the mortar that Jewish slaves used to make bricks in ancient Egypt.

Recipes vary widely among Jewish communities: Ashkenazi versions often combine apples, walnuts, and cinnamon, while Sephardic preparations might include dates, figs, or other dried fruits.

We make haroset from my grandmother's recipe every year.
