sea otter
Floating shellfish cracker
A sea otter is a marine mammal native to the northern Pacific, known for floating on its back and using rocks to crack open shellfish.
Unlike other marine mammals, sea otters rely on dense fur rather than blubber for warmth: Sea otters have the thickest fur of any animal.
They spend most of their lives in the water.
