pelt
Fur-bearing animal skin
A pelt is an animal skin, especially one with fur still attached: beaver pelts, a stack of fox pelts at the trading post.
The fur trade dealt in pelts.
To pelt is to strike repeatedly with thrown objects: Kids pelted the car with snowballs.
Rain or hail pelts a surface when it hits hard and fast.
At full pelt means at top speed.
