rice paper

Spring roll skin

Rice paper names two different things.

One is a thin, edible wrapper used in Asian cuisines—made from rice flour and water, it softens when moistened and wraps spring rolls or summer rolls.

The other is a delicate paper made from the pith of certain Asian plants, used for painting, calligraphy, and crafts.

Neither necessarily contains rice.
