stroke order
Brush movement rules
Stroke order is the prescribed sequence for writing the strokes that make up a character in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other writing systems.
Correct stroke order aids legibility, muscle memory, and looking up characters in traditional dictionaries.
Most systems follow general principles—top to bottom, left to right, outside before inside—though specific characters may have exceptions that must be memorized.
