retitling

Giving new designation

Retitling is the act of giving something a new title.

Books, films, and songs may undergo retitling for different markets or rereleases: The British novel was retitled for American audiences.

In music licensing, retitling allows the same composition to be registered under different titles by different libraries, a practice that creates administrative complications.
