relief valve
Safety pressure outlet
A relief valve is a safety device that automatically releases pressure from a tank, pipe, or vessel when it exceeds a set limit, preventing rupture or explosion.
The valve opens to vent excess pressure, then closes when levels return to normal.
Figuratively, anything that provides an outlet for built-up tension: Exercise is my relief valve for stress.
